120 Eastern Ave SE The Pasadena

1936         1977

8 studio apts, 36' x 74 1/2' for 1720 sq feet, 21' x 90' for 2004 which would be about 465 sq ft in each unit.

The 1951 card shows 3600 sq ft with a basement of 44 square feet which would hold the steam boiler.
The apts have concrete floors, 8 bats with tile floors, 2 small fireplaces, Each apt as two rooms and a bath.

The real estate cards state that each living room has a Murphy Bed, a kitchen, a bath and a dressing room.
Either the kitchen is not separated from the living room or the dressing room is not separated from the bathroom
as then the Assessor's record would indicate three rooms plus bath.

Lots 16 and 19 Aruna Bradford's Addition, built 1924.

Well I noticed the other day, Dec 2010, that all but one of the units were vacant so I stopped by and peeked in the windows. It was a cold and icy day and I was afraid that if I fell down no one would find me. So I was very cautious. New to me.

Someone had already broken in so I was able to see the back hall. The windows for the back apt were on the side.

Everything had been stripped - the plumbing, the murphy bed. But the kitchen had been in the rear right with a brick wall behind, the bathroom right next door, also backed by a brick wall and NO window. The murphy bed had been along the left wall. One big window was obvious the "living room" opposite of the kitchen/bath.

Obvious a new owner didn't approve of the 1920's decor. Don't know what clients he thinks he's going to attract by remodeling studio apts.  Do I see condos?
